Description
North tour – we head north to the biosphere Sian Ka’an. Our lunch break will be in Punta Herrero, Sian Ka’an, a tiny fishing hamlet in one of the most isolated and beautiful parts of the Mexican Caribbean. This tour includes around 90 miles (145 kms) of coastal road (hard pack chalk stone, dirt, gravel, sand) and coastal off road riding (deeper sand, grass, mud). The total tour length is 110 miles (176 kms). This is our most challenging tour with some loose sand sections and a route which can change condition on a daily basis.
South tour– we head south towards Xcalak along the exquisite coastline of southern Quintana Roo. Our lunch break will be either at Rio Huach or in Xcalak. This tour includes around 60 miles (96 kms) of mostly firm coastal road riding, taking us to the southernmost point of Quintana Roo just a short boat ride from the Belician keys. The total tour length is 100 miles (160 kms). River swimming, as well as beautiful isolated beaches, are a highlight of this tour.
Experience:
Our tours are for medium and experienced riders only, we recommend a minimum of 3 years of riding experience. Off-road experience is not required, the trails are very “mild”.
Physical considerations:
The Mexican Caribbean is hot! Even in winter you will need sun-block. Our body protectors and waterproofs will be enough for even the coldest days (20°c, 68°f).
A reasonable level of physical fitness is required. People with heart conditions, high blood pressure, back or joint problems or other high-risk medical conditions may find the riding and high temperatures too strenuous.
